Dorothy J. Phillips, Ph.D.
2025 ACS President
Dorothy J. Phillips retired from Waters Corporation in 2013 as Director, Strategic Marketing. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in 1967 and her Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1974. She has been a member of the American Chemical Society since 1973.

Regiane A. Bracchi, M.Sc.
Latin America Manager, ACS Publications
With a master’s degree in information science and extensive experience as a teaching professor focusing on the production, dissemination, use and application of scientific and technological information, Regiane A. Bracchi’s main role as the ACS Publications Latin America Manager is to support the scientific community in the region. This work centers on the development and implementation projects and partnerships associated to the access, use, and application of all ACS resources and solutions, as well as the promotion of opportunities and programs for the benefit of science in Latin America.

Marina de Souza Melchiors, Ph.D.
Customer Success Specialist, CAS
Marina has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and in Food Engineering from the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC). She received her Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Development of Chemical and Biotechnological Processes from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). Post-Doctorate researcher in Polymerization Processes and Synthetic Biology from the Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Germany. And, she is currently working as a Customer Success Specialist at CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service, a division of the American Chemical Society – ACS).

Watson Loh, Ph.D.
Associate Editor, ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering
Full Professor, Instituto de Química, Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Brazil
Prof. Loh has a B.Sc. degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the State University of Campinas. Currently, he is a Full Professor at the State University of Campinas, former Director of the Institute of Chemistry at UNICAMP. He is an Associate Editor of ACS Sustainable Chem & Eng, and he was Editor of the Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Surfactants and Detergents. He is a member of the Advisory Boards of the Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, Chemical Thermodynamics & Thermal Analysis (Elsevier), and ACS Omega. He is the appointed Chair for the International Symposium on Polyelectrolytes, 2025. He has experience in the field of Chemistry, with emphasis on Chemical Thermodynamics and Physical Chemistry of Colloids, working mainly on polymer and/or surfactant solutions, phase equilibrium and structures in complex fluids, nanocellulose and other renewable colloids, colloidal chemistry of petroleum and fuels, and calorimetry applications.

Maria da Conceição Ferreira de Oliveira, Ph.D.

Full Professor and Director, Universidade Federal do Ceará, Brazil
Maria da Conceição Ferreira de Oliveira is the Full Professor and Deputy Director of Entrepreneurship at Federal University of Ceará (Fortaleza, Brazil). She is also a member of the Chamber of Business Innovation at Fundação Cearense de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (FUNCAP), co-founder of the startup 4WBIOTECH and Chair of the ACS Brazil Chapter and Academic Supervisor of Junior Enterprise “Electron”. Graduated in Chemistry (B.Sc.) from Regional University Foundation of Blumenau (Blumenau, Brazil). She has a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Federal University of Ceará and a doctorate’s degree in Chemistry from State University of Campinas (Campinas, Brazil). Prof Oliveira has research experience in the fields of natural products chemistry, organic synthesis, and biocatalysis

Valtair S. dos Santos Júnior, Sc.M.
Publishing, Scientific Information, and Outreach Specialist, Latin America, ACS Publications
Valtair has a bachelor’s degree in Technological Chemistry and a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte, Brazil). He is currently a doctorate student at UFMG. He is enthusiastic about natural products chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and cheminformatics, focusing on the computer-aided design and synthesis of new bioactive compounds as potential antimicrobial and antitumoral agents, and on the development of electronic chemical libraries. Since 2022 he has enrolled in ACS Publications, supporting scientists on their needs during their research project journeys, from finding the right article in literature to publishing their own paper, being also involved in ACS outreach programs.
